Canopy Tours in Arenal Volcano Costa Rica!
The Skytrek Canopy Tour (ziplines) in the Arenal Volcano area is one of the most innovative canopy tours in the whole country. Valle Monteverde, the owners of the Sky Trek of Monteverde, have used their considerable experience to improve the experience of a canopy tour.
The Arenal Skytek is located south south-east of Arenal Volcano past the turn off to the Arenal Observatory Lodge heading towards El Castillo. In addition to the ever prolific canopy tour setup, they also offer an aerial tram or cable car. This is one of the few operating in Costa Rica and the only one that elevates you to a platform offering a stunning view of the Volcano Arenal and Arenal Lake. If sitting in a chair lift kind of gondola is not your thing there are also zip lines.
Skytram
The Skytram consists of a 1km ascent to an observation point that offers a stunning view of Arenal Lake, the Volcano and the surrounding rain forest. On the Skytram you travel with a nature guide who will point out any wildlife and how the vegetation varies with the altitude changes At times the tram is 40 meters above the treetops. You will have some time at the observation point before descending in the cable car. Here you can sit down on comfortable chairs to enjoy the view and stay as long as you wish. The tour is great for everybody including all ages and disabilities.
The first option is to ride back down the same way you came up. On this ‘up and down’ ride the butterfly and orchid garden is included (note these close at 4.00pm so you need to be early!)
Skytram and Skytrek (zipline canopy) Combo
Many people combine the tram tour with the Skytrek. The tour starts with the Skytram and follows on with the Skytrek (as a way of going down). You cannot do the Skytrek without the tram. This is a system of cables (or zip lines) that enables you to safely “fly” over the rain forest holding onto a pulley with two handles. Comfortable harnesses are used which are adjustable at the waist and legs. The tour is suitable for children over 8 years old. Under this age it may be possible for the child to accompany their parents or a guide. The package tour takes 2.5 hours in total plus transport time to your hotel. (10 cables)
There are currently ten zip line cables and they range in height from 30 meters to 200 meters and in length from 200 meters to 750 meters.

Skywalk (Hanging Bridges)
The Skywalk is great way to see the rainforest at a much slower pace and see the forest from a different perspective. Your guide will point out interesting aspects of the forest and any wildlife along the way. You will also view two waterfalls and go to an amazing platform 30 meters high with spectacular views of the rainforest, Arenal Volcano and Arenal Lake.
You can also do this tour without a guide at most times. Guided tours have set hours. The tour generally lasts two to three hours. Groups are usually less than ten people.

Skytrek Twilight Tour!
A totally new experience! Sky Trek Twlight tour is the same tour as they offer in the day but the late option allows you a wonderful view of the Volcano and Lake at sunset and the opportunity to observe the volcano eruptions from a unique point. The lava views are amazing when it is clear and the volcano is active.
