Skytrek Canopy Tour (ziplines) in the Arenal Volcano area is one of the most innovative canopy tours in the whole country. Valle Monteverde, the owners of the Sky Trek of Monteverde, have used their considerable experience to improve the experience of a canopy tour. Sky Trek Canopy Tour opened their Monteverde location in 1998 and their canopy tour has been one of the most successful in the area ever since. However, instead of resting on their laurels, they looked at their successful project and made improvements.

This new attraction is located south south-east of Arenal Volcano past the turn off to the Arenal Observatory Lodge heading towards El Castillo. In addition to the ever prolific canopy tour setup, they also offer an aerial tram or cable car. This one of the few operating in Costa Rica and the only one that elevates you to a platform offering a stunning view of the Volcano Arenal and Arenal Lake. If sitting in a chair lift kind of gondola is not your thing there are also zip lines.

The Sky Tram is very quiet which allows for possible nature sightings and guides give a short talk about the local ecosystem and answer any questions you may have. If any animals are spotted, guides are able to stop the tram for as long as you like, allowing you to observe, take photographs and learn about the animals.

Arenal Sky Trek has eight great cables! Sky Trek has some of the longest cables in the country. One cable offers an awesome 700+ meter ride, (that's three-quarters of a kilometer or almost half a mile) and over 45 seconds of heart palpitating fun!

Each Sky Trek platform is both a landing spot and departure point, and there is little hiking required.. Why walk when you can zip? Lets face it your not paying for the trails - go to the wildlife reserves for good hiking!

New......... Sky Trek Night Tour!
A totally new experience! Sky Trek Night tour is the same tour as they offer in the day but the night option allows you a wonderful view of the Volcano and Lake at sunset and the opportunity to observe the volcano eruptions from a unique point. The lava views are amazing when it is clear and the volcano is active.

New night sky tour: 5.00pm and 6.00pm

Arenal Skytrek and Skytram Day Tour Times:

7:30,  8:30,  9:00, 10:30, 11:30,  12:30, 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00

PRICES AND TRANSPORT

Transport can be arranged for an extra $8 roundtrip (this is going up to $10 from Dec 16 2009) from most hotels in Arenal and La Fortuna. Pick up times from La Fortuna/Arenal vary, depending on hotel location but you can calculate 30-45 minutes before each tour.

Note: the only tour times that do not have transport are at 8.30am and 12.30pm.  
Note also: Lost Iguana Hotel pick-up is only at: 9.45 and 1.30pm

Arenal Sky Trek is a complementary tour of Sky Tram it cannot be sold separately.

Only children older than 8 years old are allowed to do the Arenal Skytrek.

Weight limit of 100 kilograms weight (217 pounds). Those slightly over this weight can be evaluated by Skytrek technical staff (according to his/her height and physical condition) and if the weight is due to height rather than girth it might be possible to do the tour, as it is the size of the harness is the determining facture.
