Inflatable Kayaks, also called Duckys, are ideal for beginners. They allow paddlers to sit on top of the kayak instead of inside. Duckys are more stable on the water than traditional kayaks. They are light, compact and versatile.
A ducky is a cross between a raft, a kayak and a canoe. Like a raft, a ducky has inflated outer tubes, one or two thwarts and is self-bailing. Like a kayak, a ducky is much narrower than a raft and is propelled using a double-bladed paddle. Like a canoe, a ducky features an open cockpit. Duckies are designed for one or two paddlers.
